The AgriSETA Strategic development process is informed by the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III), and other National imperatives.
The SETA in collaboration with the different stakeholders has gone through an iterative process of developing three strategic documents, namely.
The Sector Skills Plan (SSP) 2017 - 2018, which is a five year comprehensive document, which is updated annually to capture the changing trends and dynamics of the sector.
The SSP provides an overall profile of the sector, and well as identified scarce and critical skills.
Secondly, from this broad SSP, the SETA developed the AgriSETA Strategic Plan 2015/16 - 2019/20.
In this mid-term strategy, the 7 focal areas (FA)for AgriSETA spelt of as follows:
The Strategic plan provides details of the Strategic objectives, specific objectives as well as deliverables and broad base indicatives and targets within each focal area.
- FA 1: Credible Institutional mechanism
- FA 2: Occupational and workplace learning- decent work
- FA 3: Rural development and cooperatives
- FA 4: Agricultural education and training systems
- FA 5: Mandatory grants administration
- FA 6: Youth and Career development
- FA 7: Public sector capacity
The third document is the AgriSETA Annual Performance Plan 2017 - 2018, which is an operational plan that shows annual targets and budgets.
National Treasury – Framework for Managing Programme Performance Information par 6.5 states:
'Every institution should maintain a website on which it publishes: All previous and current accountability reports - strategic plans, operational plans, budgets, quarterly performance reports, mid-term reports and annual reports'
