The AgriSETA Strategic development process is informed by the National Skills Development Plan , and other National imperatives. The SETA in collaboration with the different stakeholders has gone through an iterative process of developing three strategic documents namely, the Sector Skills Plan 2020 – 2025. The SETA developed the AgriSETA Strategic Plan 2020/21. This mid-term strategy will be driven through 4 programmes:

Administration – To provide strategic leadership, management and support services to AgriSETA. To improve the service delivery of public institutions in the agricultural sector.

Skills Planning – To ensure that HRD information is available and contribute to skills development planning. This programme aims to address the challenges of lack of institutional mechanisms that provide credible information and analysis of the supply and demand for skills, thus informing the skills planning and delivery processes. It also looks at the gap in terms of the capacity to conduct and coordinate professional research, and the dissemination of information.

Learning programmes and projects – To, through skills development impact on the productivity and profitability of the agricultural sector and to contribute to food security, vibrant entrepreneurship and self-reliance especially for rural economies.

Quality Assurance – To ensure that there are sufficient, high quality skills development institutions serving the agricultural sector

The Strategic Plan provides details of the Strategic objectives, specific objectives as well as deliverables and broad base indicatives and targets within each focal area.

The third document is the AgriSETA Annual Performance Plan 2020 – 2021, which is an operational plan that shows annual targets and budgets.
