Occupational Qualifications

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupation is a Quality Council established in 2010 in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1997 and mandated to oversee the design, implementation, assessment and certification of all occupational and trade-related qualifications within its sub-framework.

The QCTO is responsible for:
  • Establishing and maintaining occupational standards and qualifications
  • The quality assurance of occupational standards and qualifications and learning in and for the workplace
  • Designing and developing occupational standards and qualifications and submitting them to the SAQA for registration on the NQF

AgriSETA Quality Assurance

The Qualifications Development unit within the AgriSETA Quality Assurance department, through its association with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation (QCTO), has been appointed as both a Development Quality Partner (DQP).

Functions of the Development Quality Partner (DQP)

Development Quality Partner (DQP) means a body delegated by the QCTO to manage the process of developing specific occupational qualifications, curricula and assessment specifications

Accreditation

The Department of Higher Education & Training has extended the deadline date for public comment on the National Qualifications Framework Further Amendment Bill to 15 September 2025. The initial deadline date was the 15 June 2025.
